Hangers & Brackets
Japanese screens traditionally stood on the floor or flat surface; however for practical reasons, these days most people prefer to hang them on the wall. There are 3 different hanging systems available, depending on the screen type and wall restrictions.
A screen hung flat on the wall using Type #1 Hooks
Type I
This is the most common method used to hang our screens. The set consists of 8 L-shaped hooks: 4 go along the
bottom of the screen and 4 on the top (although 2 on top is sufficient). The Type I set comes as a standard inclusion
with all our screens. If purchased separately, it also comes with a choice of red, purple or brown cushions.
Note: As this system requires drilling at least 6 holes in the wall, it is unsuitable for some
rental apartments, particularly in Japan.

Price: US$30 + $10 shipping (for US) = $40. Choose from red, purple or brown cushions.
Type II
This system can be used with a picture cable/rail system, or fixed to the wall using 2 screws only, and is therefore
suitable for people who would rather not drill holes in the wall. The size is adjustable for screens up to 37in /
92.5cm tall (may require cutting)

Price: US$50 + $10 shipping (for US) = $60.
Type III
This system consists of 5 brackets, 4 of which fix to the wall using 2 screws each, for a total of 8 screws.
2 brackets go above and below the outside folds of the screen, and the 5th piece slots on top of the centre fold.
The advantage of this system is its flexibility - there is no limit to the height of the screen that can be hung
using this system. On the other hand, the 5-piece set is designed for 4-panel screens only; if you have a 6-panel
screen, you will need 2 sets.
